Bob Gossom — Poetry & Performance

The stage has always been where words meet breath, where poetry transcends the page and enters the body of the audience.

For three weeks in April, 2024, Versified! THE HUMAN EQUATION brought the LA literature, theatre, and acting worlds together.

The production united rising director Sonny Lira, a remarkable ensemble of actors, and composer Manuel Tirado to bring Bob’s poetry to life.

Audiences described the experience as “a revelation” and “a moving fusion of language and performance.”

Limited Viewing Starts April 3!

“Joyful and poignant. It was an evening of deft direction by Sonny Lira and inspired performances from the ensemble. I must credit the poet Bob Gossom who was the fuel from which the actors gave the words life. I haven’t seen a show like this since my days in New York.”

This production underscores Bob’s versatility; he is not only a poet on the page but an artist with a singular vision. His work moves across literature, theatre, and film ,revealing an imagination tuned to performance and the creative moment.

Versified! The Human Equation is the performance and film adaptation of Bob Gossom’s evolving body of work—bringing poetry from the page into voice, movement, and cinematic expression.

What began as a written collection has expanded into a multidimensional experience in which language is not only read but also embodied and performed. Through staged readings and a performance-capture film, The Human Equation explores the emotional patterns that connect us, our relationships, our identities, our memories, and our shared human experience.

From Page to Stage to Screen

The work was first adapted into a live theatrical production in Los Angeles, where a cast of performers brought Gossom’s poetry to life through layered, mixed-voice readings.

This evolution culminated in Versified! The Human Equation, a performance-driven film that brings poetry to the screen, translating voice and presence into a cinematic form that deepens the work’s emotional resonance.
